The price of Commando increased to 50p in
October.

The year
saw the first installment of ‘The Log of the Lairds’ with 2665 ‘Desert Wolf’. An old
diary dating from the First World War lies in front of you. Turn the key in
the lock, smooth down the rumpled pages…begin to read the first entry made by
a man they called the Desert Wolf. Now you’re about to discover the deepest
secrets of “The Log Of The Lairds” – a battle book which tells of great
courage and daring through war after savage war… There were
a total of six Laird stories, all penned by Alan Hemus with covers by Ian
Kennedy and interior artwork by Gordon Livingstone. |
Also this
year the heading ‘WAR STORIES IN PICTURES’ made its last appearance with issue
2690 ‘Password to Freedom’.
The new
heading ‘FOR ACTION AND ADVENTURE’ appeared with the next issue 2691 ‘A Race
against Time’.
Jose Maria
Jorge did his first cover with 2663 ‘Hungry for Glory’; Jorge had done interior
artwork before.
